It was a snap to set up, and if you think you might have any trouble, it comes with a sticker on the front to run a quick demonstration of its use.

Regarding extra expenses you will have to pay for the paper as it doesn’t come with any, but it does come with a 1,500 page toner cartridge. Keep in mind though that the number of pages is usually measured at less than 1/2 a page of ink, so if you are printing out very dark images replacement could be needed earlier. If you are in the market for a fax machine and know that you want one which is both intelligent to use, and easy to work with, then I highly recommend the Brother Intellifax 2820 to you. This could be a great fax machine for either home or office use, and can probably be picked up at any office store.

I bought a fax machine for the convenience. I purchased the InellliFAX 885MC from Brother. I am not a faxing guru by any means, but I have sent a few faxes before. I paid about 85 dollars for the unit. I was excited to have the ability to shoot faxes out from my own house. Little did I know, I was in for a world of frustration and anger.
The instructions that come with the fax machine make every action sound simple. I can tell you for sure, the instructions, as written, not only make things difficult, but downright ridiculous. At the start, you have to do an initial set-up, where you input your name, fax number, telephone number, and other various settings. That was easy enough. Its the part where you have to set the machine up to send or receive faxes that becomes a hassle. Different ringbones mean different things. They indicate whether a phone call or a fax is incoming. That, although confusing, is not the worst thing about this machine. I set it up as directed, and still could receive no faxes. I could send them to my hearts content, and did so many times. But receiving was a whole other ballgame.
Upon talking with customer service, I was walked through all the procedures of setting the unit up 4 or 5 times. It was then determined the unit was faulty. I was given instructions to replace it and am in the process of doing so. Customer Service was pretty decent all things considered.In the end, I would recommend steering clear of this machine. There are many other options out there and I no longer trust the Brother brand.
